5 methods to make friends with Chinese people

Don’t be shy. Remember you want to make friends with the Chinese as much as they want to make friends with you:)

1.Participate in clubs for the Chinese

To meet a person with whom you have same interest is already 50% of success and guarantees that you will definitely have something to talk about. People with same hobbies can become friends overnight. You like dancing or painting? Perfect, then join some dance club or art class for Chinese people. Of course, it can be a bit hard because everything is in Chinese, but at the same time because there is no way to use English, you will improve your Chinese much faster.

2. Ask the name of the dish

To be honest, it isn’t my method, I stole it from one guy, who did it and it was impressive. He came to the canteen, saw one girl sitting by her own and eating a tasty dish and then just ask how to say the name of her dish in Chinese and what exactly it is. After 10 minutes he came back to her holding a plate with the exact same dish and asked if you could sit next to her. And then they just talked about everything.

Make a note, no matter what café or restaurant you go to, you can go to the person you like and try this method. There is nothing to lose here, even if conversation doesn’t work out, at least you can discover a new tasty dish.

More participate in international events, exhibitions, competitions, evenings of Chinese language (such as our Mandarin night, for example;). Wherever there is a chance to be together with Chinese people, just crab it. You never know where you will meet your new friend. Plus, all these activities will not let you be bored.

5. Do not be afraid of asking for help from strangers

In the modern society, it is getting harder and harder to just start a conversation or ask a stranger about something. If you feel like this, then let me ask you one question. Imagine, one pleasant person came to you and asked something, how would you react? Probably, you will also nicely relay to his question. Then why do you think that the reaction of other people to your question will be different?

Moreover, it is scientifically proven fact that we feel more comfortable with the person we helped. Use it, ask for help and then start a small talk, who knows what interesting thing can happen.

Last thing

If you are shy and Chinese people are shy as well, then who will take the first step to towards becoming friends?

Don’t give up if you didn’t find a friend after the first time. If you really want it and strive with all determination to it, trust me in the end you will definitely get it.

(tell you from my own experience)
