Introduction

学语言的人，常常在寻找一条“正确”的路。但有时候，真正有用的，是走出那条路。

Language learners often search for the "right" path. But sometimes, what truly works is stepping off it entirely.

在上海外国语大学工作的 Yuki，曾经在外企快消圈摸爬滚打了二十多年。从 CEO 助理到电子商务运营副总监，她的履历写满了“稳定”和“体面”。

Yuki, who now works at Shanghai International Studies University, spent over twenty years in the fast-moving consumer goods industry. From CEO assistant to deputy director of e-commerce operations, her résumé was filled with stability and prestige.

但四十岁那年，她做了一件让很多人意外的事：考取国际中文教师证书，走进中文课堂。

But at forty, she did something unexpected: she earned her international Chinese teaching certificate and stepped into the Chinese classroom.

她说，这不是转行，是回到一件真正想做的事。

She says it wasn't a career change. It was a return to something she genuinely wanted to do.

自我介绍

Self Introduction

我是嵇尧，大家可以叫我 Yuki。我毕业于上海师范大学英语系。

I'm Ji Yao, but you can call me Yuki. I graduated from Shanghai Normal University with a degree in English.

大学毕业后，我进入了外资企业做 CEO 助理，之后在外企快消圈做了二十多年。从 Sephora 到可口可乐，再到瑞典第一植物奶品牌 OATLY，从 CEO 助理转型到电子商务运营副总监。一直在外企摸爬滚打。

After graduation, I started as a CEO assistant at a foreign company. Then I spent over twenty years in the FMCG industry—from Sephora to Coca-Cola to OATLY, the leading Swedish plant-based milk brand. I transitioned from CEO assistant to deputy director of e-commerce operations. I spent my whole career navigating the corporate world.

2024年，因为 Mandarin Inn，我知道了国际汉语教师这个行业，我在 Mandarin Inn 学习并考取了国际中文教师证书。

In 2024, through Mandarin Inn, I got to know the field of international Chinese teaching. I studied at Mandarin Inn and earned my international Chinese teacher certification.

也是这个契机，让我在外企工作二十年后，四十岁之际转型进入了上海外国语大学，从事关于大学孔子学院国际中文志愿者和教师外派相关的管理工作。

That opportunity led me, after twenty years in corporate, to transition at forty into Shanghai International Studies University, where I now work on managing international Chinese volunteers and teacher assignments for the university's Confucius Institute.

也在工作之余，开始了国际中文教学之路。

And outside of work, I began my journey teaching Chinese.

第一次上课

First Teaching Experience

我的第一个学生是在上海外资企业工作的韩国帅哥。他之前在香港生活过一两年，对中文有一点了解。

My first student was a Korean professional working at a foreign company in Shanghai. He had lived in Hong Kong for a year or two before, so he had some exposure to Chinese.

他学习中文的目的主要是为了和太太更好地在上海生活、工作，短期内并没有参加 HSK 考试的打算。

His main goal was to live and work in Shanghai more comfortably with his wife. He had no plans to take the HSK in the short term.

如何学好中文

Learning Chinese Effectively

学语言没有捷径，只能多听、多说、多读、多写。

There are no shortcuts in language learning. You just have to listen more, speak more, read more, and write more.

现在我对韩国学生的安排是：周末一节 HSK 常规课，融入语法和词汇；周中我们就是 1.5 小时的 mini dialogue 训练，话题涉及上海的生活日常、工作两三件事等，满足他对中文的日常需求，有针对性地去训练。

For my Korean student, I've set up a weekly schedule: one HSK class on weekends covering grammar and vocabulary, and a 1.5-hour mini dialogue session during the week. The topics cover daily life in Shanghai and work situations—targeted training that meets his real needs.

所以我的学生现在很愿意开口。在对话中，我们逐渐纠正发音、融入 native speaking 的语气和语法，让学生能更快地适应“上海节奏”。

As a result, my student is now very willing to speak. Through conversation, we gradually correct pronunciation and incorporate native-sounding tones and grammar, helping him adapt to the "Shanghai rhythm" more quickly.

教学之外的生活

Life Beyond Teaching

其实我最大的兴趣爱好就是旅行与运动。

My biggest interests are travel and sports.

可能由于目前工作的原因，寒暑假我都会带着海外孔院教育访问团访学中国城市。所以最近几年的自我旅行也更偏向于文化旅行。

Because of my current job, I lead overseas Confucius Institute education delegations to visit Chinese cities during winter and summer breaks. So my personal travel has shifted toward cultural exploration.

之前在外企的时候可能更多的只是打卡式旅行、度假式旅行。但来到上外孔院后，近两年的旅行更着重于目的地背后的历史文化、人文背景，会去更多地探索那些文化符号。

When I was in corporate, travel was more about checking off destinations and taking vacations. But after joining the Confucius Institute at SISU, my travels over the past two years have focused more on the history, culture, and human context behind the places I visit—exploring cultural symbols more deeply.

作为 Mandarin Inn 的一名老师，让我感触最深的是学校给老师的空间很大。不会很刻板地让你去教学，而是以学生的立场，可以自由发挥你的长处。

As a teacher at Mandarin Inn, what strikes me most is the space the school gives us. It's not rigid or formulaic. Instead, it's student-centered, and you're free to play to your strengths.

当然，位于市中心的教学地点也是周末出发去上课很好的“动力”。

Of course, the teaching location in the downtown Shanghai is also great motivation for heading out to class on weekends.

国际中文教育的前景

The Future of Chinese Education

目前我是孔院办的一名管理老师，接触最多的就是在海外孔院学习汉语的外国人。你能发现这个队伍真的越来越壮大。按照语合的需求人数，国际中文教师需求量也是逐年在增加。

I currently work as an administrative teacher at the Confucius Institute office. I interact most with foreigners learning Chinese at overseas Confucius Institutes. You can see this community growing steadily. According to the demand figures from the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, the need for international Chinese teachers is increasing year by year.

因此，我觉得国际中文教育事业前景广阔。

So I believe the field of international Chinese education has broad prospects.

随着中国和世界各国经贸、文化交流日益密切，中文的实用价值持续提升。学习中文的群体也越来越多元化。除了留学生以外，像我所教的这类在中国工作的外籍商务人士，对实用型汉语的需求正稳步增加。

As trade and cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world grow closer, the practical value of Chinese continues to rise. Learners are becoming more diverse. Beyond international students, professionals like my student—foreign businesspeople working in China—have a steadily growing demand for practical Chinese.

当然，未来教学会更加注重个性化、场景化，对教师的要求也更高。不仅要精通汉语知识，还要具备跨文化交际能力，能够针对不同国籍、职业的学习者定制课程。

In the future, teaching will focus more on personalization and real-world scenarios. The demands on teachers will be higher. We need not only to master Chinese knowledge but also to have cross-cultural communication skills, and to customize courses for learners of different nationalities and professions.

最大的收获是能在这里开启我想做的事情，能提供给我“学有所用”的机会。

My greatest reward is being able to start what I truly wanted to do—and to have the chance to "use what I've learned."

Teaching Philosophy

千人千面，学以致用。

Every student is different. Learning should be put to use.

一定要针对不同的学生，不同的学习目的和需求，针对性地开展教学，并且一定要能使这些学习的东西成为他日常生活工作中的工具，而不是刻板的资料。

Teaching must be tailored to each student's goals and needs. What they learn must become a tool for daily life and work—not rigid, lifeless material.

尊重学生节奏，坚持教学相长，持续优化课堂。

Respect each student's pace. Keep learning from teaching. Continuously refine the classroom.

放下紧张的情绪，保持一颗积极的心，认真去准备就好。

Let go of the nerves. Stay positive. Just prepare seriously.
